Reclaiming Ancestral Foods for Personal and Collective Well-being

Join us for this workshop-plática on original foods of present-day Mexico and their culinary and medicinal uses over millennia. Dr. Lilliana Saldaña, professor of Mexican American Studies & Institute presenter, will facilitate this community workshop platica. Drawing from Indigenous codices, chronicles, scholarly works and the knowledge she’s learned from elders and knowledge keepers, Dr. Saldaña will share ways in which we can indigenize

our diet for personal and collective healing and wellness.

Participants will:

– Learn about Mesoamerican agriculture

– Extend knowledge on Indigenous foods / alimentos originarios, past and present

– Amplify conocimiento on culinary and medicinal uses of indigenous plants

– Share ways to reclaim and sustain indigenous culinary knowledge and practices within the context of global capitalism
